How It All Began
lotus® Home grew out of an engineer’s realization one night in his kitchen. Just after dinner with his wife and two young kids, Steve Hengsperger was cleaning up a spill. He read the label on the cleaner he was using and recognized one of the chemicals used in his manufacturing plant. But when they used it in the plant people wore gloves, safety glasses and masks. In his home he just took it out from under the sink, put it on a sponge and cleaned up. Alarmed, he told himself “There must be a better way.”

Chemical-free home cleaning became Steve’s obsession. A couple of years later, with millions of dollars invested and many thousands of hours of human effort, he acquired patents for the lotus® Home’s liquefied ozone technology and founded Tersano Inc. Five years later, lotus® Home won a TIME Magazine Top Inventions 2006 award, and then a Big Idea award on the Donny Deutsch Show in 2008.
